Some leaders are born, some are made. Which one are you?

Some leaders are born, some are made

Many books are written on how to become a leader. Well, so many of them have become one even without reading those books. They have, for they were born to be one. https://medium.com/swlh/the-5-characteristics-that-makes-great-leaders-466ba0fd34df

The innate attributes of a leader, if I were to list them are:

  • Vision: Vision is when you have a dream for the future with imagination and wisdom. Vision is when you have a clear sense of purpose. Encouraging a much larger picture.
  • Courage: Is when one has a sense of spirit. Strength of purpose and conviction. Strength to connect your vision into reality without losing steer even in adversities.
  • Sacrifice: A leader should be ready to give up something valued for a larger cause. Be ready to lose without the fear of losing.

The bigger challenge is, even if we were meant to be, do we get an opportunity in life to become one? And some of them, though not born with the innate quality of becoming a leader were pushed into roles where they were honed and the scalpel of life carved a leader out of them.

That of course is possible because we are not born a blank canvas. Circumstances and opportunities become the paintbrushes with multiple strokes. Bit by bit, small to big tasks and consistent execution of more can make one so.

Everybody wishes to be alpha but seldom do people realize that it is more of a responsibility and less of a privilege. With power comes responsibility and with responsibility comes the burden of assuming the glory of success and the shame of failure.

A leader is not just born but is born to be made and if you have recognized one within, get started. Drive those traits within. Be the chief that empowers the pack, by clear vision, courage, and above all the willingness to sacrifice.
