24 X 7, this expression each one of us use frequently with so much ease. Little do we realize that it translates into 168 hours per week!! Out of these 168 hours per week we spend 40 hours per week at our work place, close to 24%.
If that is the proportion of our living hours spent at any place it better be good, better be worth spending the time of our life. It better, above all make us happy.
Though there is no standard rule to what will make each one happy we can safely and generally conclude that it is the work culture, atmosphere, facilities that add to the happiness quotient.
If there is not much of happening of other activities at a workplace it becomes monotonous for them which could result in boredom and definitely affect their execution of work.
Here emerges the concept of employee wellness programmes.
Because high happiness quotient leads to high performance employees. This can be achieved by:
- Flexible working hours
- Work from home
- Crèche and day care for children
- Good infrastructure
- Cafeteria, brunch and dinner services
- Paternity leaves etc.
This gives the employees the comfort of working in a well facilitated office.
It is not just a 10 to 5 job scene anymore. There is more to work. It is also not just about monetary benefits but feel good benefits that increases the stability quotient of an employee.
For a company to differentiate itself in this increasing competitive market, it needs a point on focus on its employees. Today’s workplace is filled with benefits designed to fit the needs of a contemporary workforce providing them with almost all the necessary facilities.
Workplaces today need to create healthy environment or organize various events to ensure the wellness of an employee which in turn keeps the employees happy and zealous directly increasing the efficiency, productivity retention and quality of service, reduction in health related issues less of absenteeism and creating a more friendly work environment.
A company should implement these Institutional Counselling programmes with total care, attention which would yield some better results.
